Daily I'm asked about how to use Sweet Potatoes after a consultation for Wholistic Rejuvenation and they are advised to AVOID all nightshades. I've written for over twenty years about how nightshades create and induce inflammation so I'm not going to bore you with the details again. That said, for some reason people turn up their noses at the thought of a sweet potato to replace any dish you'd use traditional potatoes for. I guess I just don't get... I'm a gourmet cook and I also teach inflammation-free cooking to chefs at Culinary Institutes, there's very little - if any - difference and that difference is actually very tasty and a new delicate comfort food.
Pictured above are some foods in the nightshade family, if you have ANY inflammation AVOID them like the plague.
Because there is SO much confusion as to the various types of sweet potatoes, I created a chart that illustrates the numerous varieties and their health benefits. Just keep in mind that ANY genre of sweet potatoes is acceptable to avoid inflammation...YES...even those gorgeous purple ones that I first devoured in Hawaii.
SO, before you feel like you're giving up that favorite comfort food - traditional potatoes - transition to sweet potatoes and you'll soon experience the health benefits of not inducing or accelerating inflammation - often you don't even realize just how much inflammation is in your body until you completely delete all nightshades for at least 6-8 weeks...you'll be SO glad you did!
