I know, I know it isn't humorous when you're the one experiencing the symptoms. However, if we don't find some humor in our challenges then we simply continue to add to our overall body burden with toxic thoughts and emotions.
With chronic illnesses and aging comes the reality that our brain chemistry easily becomes un-balanced if it isn't provided proper nutrition; especially minerals and electrolytes...the body's electrical transmitters.
When we're healthy and younger, our bodies are better able to tolerate abuse, including, but not limited to, consumption of processed and over-cooked foods (depleted of enzymes and nutrients), excessive stress (mental and phyical), and consumption of alcohol and soft drink (scientifically found to actually deplete mineral reserves), as well as environmental factors that slowly manifests the symptomatic progression of "dis-ease."
During times of illness and disorders, as well as a result of the aging processes, it is vital our brains maintain a constant storehuse of neurotransmitters and the raw materials (minerals) that keep them in synchronicity (balanced), for optimum function to keep all our biological messages communicating. When those nutrients are supplied in an easy to take effervescent powder, the body is better able to utilized them (1).
Keeping the Messengers Healthy
Neurotransmitters are chemicals that occur naturally in the brain; allowing transmission of messages from one nerve cell to another. They are chemical signals used by neurons to communicate with one another; responsible for making the brain work and also determining how you think, act, and feel.
Minerals are cofactors for enzymes, meaning enzymes depend upon minerals for their function; being the actual life-blood for enzymes. When the body is depleted of minerrals, enzymes become sluggish or literally paralyzed, detoxification systems are compromised (especially the liver, kidneys, and large intestine), and pH balance is lost; leading to the development of chronic disorders we often wrongfully associate with "normal" aging.
According to Michael Lesser, M.D., "You never get any more neurons than you're born with. In fact, the brain loses nerve cells as it ages. The stepped-up breakdown can throw your brain chemistry out of balance and lead to a decrease in the overall general level of brain activity, interference with the ability to think and remember, and depression."
Dis-eases of Aging?
After age 50, and during chronic illnesses, startling new conditions emerge; the most prevalent being depression, mood swings, muscle weakness and cramping, brain-fog, soft and connective tissue pain, unexplained fatigue, and sleep disorders Many conventional drug approaches used for these exact conditions can themselves create chemical imbalances and subsequent depletion of essential minerals...adding to the very problems they were meant to resolve.
Balancing the Energy Currency
Minerals, in order to be effective, must work in synchronicity (balance) with one another. An example of this includes:
- Calcium, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and iron
- Copper, iron and zinc
- Sodium and potassium
When experiencing chronic illnesses, and for those os us baby-boomers, it's important to remember that we are not our parents' or granparents' generation; being 60 years of age now is considered the youth of old age. Today we have more health information than ever before, along with the unlimited opportunity to educate ourselves in non-drug methods of maintaining health and adding life to our years, naturally.
(1) Electrolyte Plus C is the perfect professional complex containing 1000 mg of Vitamin C; active co-factor B complex vitamins, electrolytes and alpha lipoic acid. You simply mix the effervescent powder in water or juice for a powerful energy boost drink that will help keep your "body currency" from becoming an overdraft.
